A note from the Stylist to the Stars Grooming Salon:
With the warmer weather, we are having lots of pups brought in for their "yearly clean up." I wanted to take this opportunity to remind you the importance of regular grooming care, not just once per year. Even on breeds with shorter hair, like labs, they still should be bathed at least every 6-8 weeks to remove any dander, loose hair, and rejuvinate the skin. Nails should be trimmed or dremmeled every 4-6 weeks to keep them nice and short and prevent wear and tear on the bones of the feet.*
The dog's coat is a natural insulator in the against the cold and against the heat. If you do have your dog shaved down during the warm months, be careful to monitor them in the sunlight. They can be prone to sunburn once their coat is shortened. If you have a longer coated breed and want to keep them the natural length, make sure that all their undercoat is removed so that their skin can "breathe."
